What are multi-wall polycarbonate sheets?
Multi-wall polycarbonate is a lightweight plastic glazing sheet made of two or more flat skins joined by row/s of internal ribs, forming hollow channels along the length of the sheet - similar in structure to cardboard, but rigid and clear. Those air-filled channels trap and insulating layer of air and scatter incoming light so it spreads evenly, instead o casting hard shadows or hot spots the way glass does.
The sheets are virtually unbreakable next to glass - they won't shatter under hail, wind-blown debris, or an errant baseball - while weighing a fraction as much, so less framing is needed to support them. A UV-inhibiting layer is co-extruded onto one face during manufacturing, so panels resist yellowing and hold their clarity for years in direct sunlight.
